Find the biggest energy users. Keep essential systems running.

Ventilation, heating, air filtration and lighting can run for long hours across a livestock facility. A monthly bill shows the total, but rarely reveals which circuit used the power or when the load changed. Meter the supply, branches and major equipment together to pinpoint heavy users, compare operating periods and make energy decisions without compromising the conditions animals need.

01

Start with the circuits that matter

Meter incoming supply and branch boxes, then add separate readings for ventilation, air filtration, heating and lighting where their consumption needs to be understood. A clear supply-to-barn hierarchy turns one electricity total into a view of where power is used and who can act on it.

02

Spot abnormal loads before the next bill

Review voltage, current, power, power factor and energy alongside daily load curves. A circuit that keeps drawing power after its operating window, or a sudden change in current, becomes visible for inspection. Harmonics and residual-current data can be included when the selected instruments support them.

03

Put the biggest energy users in order

Compare barns, distribution boxes and equipment by day or month, then trace energy from the main meter into branch circuits. The platform makes heavy-use areas, changing loads and unusual gaps between metering levels easier to identify, so teams can focus inspections where they are most likely to matter.

04

Save energy without disrupting operations

Energy reduction is not simply switching equipment off. Use current trends and period comparisons to review idle operation, ventilation and heating schedules, while keeping animal welfare and production requirements in view. Record changes and compare like-for-like periods to check whether adjustments actually reduced consumption.

From field tasks to product roles

Define measurement boundaries before choosing terminals by wiring and branch count. Totals, branches, equipment loads and power quality are different data objectives.

Whole three-phase consumption

AC Energy Monitoring Terminal

Select metering by three-phase wiring and direct or current-transformer input. Branch accounting and power-quality diagnosis are different data objectives with multi-circuit acquisition and power terminals.

Selection questions

How do whole three-phase monitoring and branch metering differ?

Choose a meter or acquisition terminal by three-phase wiring for a whole load. Use multi-circuit energy acquisition when separate single-phase branch measurements are needed.

Can current measurements alone produce energy reports?

Current acquisition observes load and operating state. Energy, power and consumption reports require devices and data fields with the corresponding metering capability.

How should an existing distribution system be scoped?

Define boundaries by main meter, floor, zone or equipment circuit. Match direct or current-transformer inputs, communications and reporting dimensions, then expand in stages.

Application design and operating strategy

01

Build a clear hierarchy from incomer to equipment

Separate incoming supply, building or workshop submeters, major equipment and shared circuits before analysing consumption. Use three-phase meters at distribution nodes, multi-circuit modules for grouped branches and suitable devices at individual loads. Model the supply hierarchy in the platform so a monthly total can be traced to areas and equipment without adding parent and child readings together twice.

02

Interpret electrical measurements alongside operating periods

Voltage, current, power, energy and power factor serve different purposes: instantaneous readings show condition, cumulative energy supports totals, and trends explain starts and load changes. Compare shifts, working days and shutdown periods to examine idle operation or persistent night loads. Retain production, weather and equipment changes alongside the data to distinguish normal demand variation from unusual consumption.

03

Connect data exceptions with inspection and review

Organize alarms and energy rankings by area, cabinet and equipment, prioritizing out-of-schedule operation, abrupt increases and frozen readings. Compare local instruments, acquisition wiring, transformer ratios and operating conditions to locate load, communications or configuration issues. After adjusting operation, review comparable business periods to maintain a continuous cycle of measurement, analysis, action and follow-up.

Selection questions

Why add branch metering when an incoming meter exists?

The incoming meter shows overall energy, while branch readings locate differences by area, equipment and period. A parent–child hierarchy prevents double counting.

How is an energy reduction evaluated?

Compare similar production, opening hours, seasons and equipment, retaining policy-change records. The result depends on the actual loads and operating arrangements.
